Winter Gear Giveaway for Alaska Schools

What Is the Winter Gear Giveaway?

Every winter we hold a Facebook contest to select Alaskan schools to win a box of warm winter gear.  

 

This year, in mid-December, we reached out to our Facebook followers and friends, inviting them to nominate their school for our Winter Gear Giveaway.  The response was incredible — over 1,000 parents, teachers, and community members from across Alaska participated, entering more than 130 schools for a chance to win a box of gear!

 

Each Friday, through the end of February, we randomly select an Alaskan school from a list of schools entered by our Facebook Friends to receive a big box of high-quality winter gear for students!  Follow us on Facebook to join the excitement and see if your school wins!

Why we do it

At 6th Avenue Outfitters, we’re a cooperative owned by over 330 Alaskan families and businesses, united by a commitment of serving our communities.  

 

Founded in 1986 by two former Anchorage firefighters, the business was built on the principles of hard work, community, and providing quality gear to meet Alaska’s unique needs. In 2017, we proudly became Alaska's first retail cooperative committed to Rural Alaska.

 

We are passionately dedicated to putting people and communities first and the Winter Gear Giveaway is one of the many ways we uphold this value. By working together, we’re not just outfitting Alaskans — we’re strengthening the bonds that make our communities thrive.
