July 2, 2026

? Salmon

Ship Creek Update

Ship Creek is closed to fishing until July 14. After reopening on July 14, anglers should note that king salmon retention will not be allowed.

? Rainbow Trout • Dolly Varden • Arctic Char

  • Fishing remains open on Chester Creek and Campbell Creek.
  • By emergency order, Campbell Creek is restricted to single hooks only and no bait may be used through July 31.
  • Fly anglers should try:
    • Small Woolly Buggers
    • Bead Head Nymphs
    • Dry Flies

?️ Anchorage Area Lakes

Recommended Lakes:

  • Campbell Point Lake
  • Delong Lake
  • Sand Lake
  • Lower Fire Lake

Rainbow trout have now been stocked in local lakes and should be well acclimated. Slowly stripping a wet fly or suspending small bait beneath a bobber continues to be productive.

Symphony Lake

Symphony Lake reopened to sport fishing on July 1. Expect excellent fishing for Arctic Grayling with rainbow trout mixed in. For spin anglers, size 0 or size 1 spinners have been producing fish.
Northern Pike Reminder

Northern pike are not native to Anchorage-area lakes. If you catch a pike, do not release it. Report your catch to the Alaska Department of Fish & Game.

⚠️ Emergency Orders

Always review current emergency orders before heading out, as regulations can change quickly during the season.

    • Eagle River
Effective May 1, king salmon fishing is closed throughout the entire Eagle River drainage. Fishing gear is limited to one unbaited, single-hook artificial lure with a hook gap of one-half inch or less.

  • Campbell Creek
Effective June 15 through July 31, anglers may use only one unbaited, single-hook artificial lure.
