Fishing at an Kenai Stocked lake

Family Fishing on the Kenai

Famous for its world-class salmon fishing, but the Kenai is also home to several excellent stocked lakes that offer easy, family-friendly fishing throughout the summer. Stocked mostly with Rainbows, these lakes are a great choice for visitors looking to enjoy Alaska's outdoors without needing specialized equipment or a boat.

Whether you're staying in Soldotna, Kenai, Cooper Landing, or in a campsite, these lakes are perfect for anglers of all ages. We've compiled our favorite road accessible stocked lakes, with stocking history, target species, and directions.

Richard's Local Tip

"Don't overlook these stocked lakes. They're less crowded, easy to fish from the bank, and a great option when the rivers are busy or the salmon aren't running."
