What's Included
- Rod & Reel -
- River Fishing: We are mostly fishing for Salmon (Kings, Cohos and Sockeye) in the rivers in the summer, so that is how we gear up our rods. They are Medium Heavy with Ande Monofilament 30- pound test braided line, 50-pound leader and we use Blue Fox and Beau-Mac fishing lures. We put Salmon Roe in your tackle box but its always a good idea to buy more. If you don't use it, return it.
- We also offer Lake Rods, for trout and grayling, which are Medium or Medium Light with Ande Monofilament 20-pound test and rigged up for trout. If you want to fish a lake let us know, so we give you the right gear bag.
- Hip or Chest Waders
- We have a variety of chest waders from Frogg Toggs, Paramount and LaCrosse. We have neoprene and heavy duty PVC. 90% of our waders are boot foot, because that's just what we use up here. The rivers here are cold, the mud on Ship Creek is thick and bootfoot waders handle those elements the best. We also carry Hip Waders, but that's mostly for lake fishing, where you aren't going to wander into the water very far.
- Basic Tackle
- Your rod and reel comes set with a lure and in the tackle box there are two additional lures, some additional weights and leader line. Its always wise, especially when you are combat fishing, to carry a lot of extra lures. Those parking spaces are hard to come by, especially at Ship and Russian rivers, and you do not want to have to leave and get more lures. We accept returns of any lures you do not use, provided we can resell them, so pick up plenty before you head out.
- Local Fishing Advice
- Richard will show you how to fish and tell you what he and his buddies are seeing on the water. During the summer we read the Alaska Fish and Game Fishing reports, we are members of lots of southcentral fishing Facebook groups and we use that information to post weekly updates on our website "Travel Tips and Guides."
