Tailored to Your Activity Level
Our Kits are based on the level of activity and warmth you’ll need:
- Alyeska Kit - Highly Active Adventures: Designed for activities like downhill skiing, where less insulation is ideal for flexibility and comfort.
- Iditarod Kit - Moderately Active Adventures: Perfect for activities like snowshoeing or dog sledding, offering a balance of warmth and mobility.
- Northern Lights Kit - Mostly Inactive Adventures: Built for long periods of standing in place, such as watching the aurora, with the highest levels of insulation for extreme cold.

Important Aspects of Sizing Winter Gear
Properly sizing winter gear is essential for comfort, warmth, and functionality during cold-weather activities. Here’s what you need to consider:
- Room for Layering: Winter gear should accommodate multiple layers (base, mid, and outer) without feeling tight or restricting movement, so if you are in between sizes, always choose the larger size.
- Mobility and Comfort: Choosing a larger size ensures your gear will allow for free movement, particularly in areas like shoulders, arms, and knees, to prevent restriction during activities.
- Proper Length: Our Parkas cover your lower back when bending or sitting, snow pants will meet your boots without excessive bunching, and our gloves will overlap jacket cuffs for complete coverage.
- Boot Fit: Baffin Boots fit snug. There is no need for a thick sock with a Baffin Boot. In fact, most people wear thin wool socks with Baffin Boots. If you are in between sizes, always order the larger size. Baffin provides a snug fit without pinching, and your foot will stay secure around the heel to prevent slipping.
- Extremities Coverage: Your hats should be fleece-lined, and if you are on an Aurora Viewing tour, we strongly recommend a balaclava to fully cover your head, ears and neck.
Final Tip: We are happy to talk with you about your trip and to help properly fit your gear as that can make your visit a comfortable, enjoyable winter adventure.
