Our Story

LAST FRONTIER BORN

APRIL 14, 1985

We are Last Frontier born, in the year  our state purchased the Alaska Railroad from the federal government.

Early on we were the "store for the working man," providing military surplus, heavy wool pants, shirts and outdoor gear for Alaska’s miners, trappers, fishermen, pilots, truckers and utility workers.

We became an Icon on 6th Avenue, lasting longer than most, catering to the needs of Northern families and visitors to stay warm, safe and dry in the Great Land.

In 2018, we became a non profit cooperative.

  • To lower the cost of staying warm, safe & dry in Life Outdoors.
  • To offer Alaskans & travelers an opportunity to own the business where they shop.
  • To offer special pricing and discounts to our business owners.
  • To have our business owners guide us in finding the products they want to have made available to them.
